A3 this also goes with q1. It can be frustrating when kids don’t know why what they have done is wrong/disrespectful/hurtful to others. The ego focus and the lack of perception stunts the larger perspective. #EPARKCHAT

A3: I would say “lack of changing their behavior.” I hear this more often from teachers. Why do they keep doing the same thing after being consequenced? #EParkchat

It’s definitely a balance. Knowing what to address and when is key. AND knowing how to respond to each child in the moment can be a game changer. This is why rapport is so important.#Eparkchat.

A2 approach depends on the student, case by case basis. But warnings eventually escalate to consequences. The behavior can’t be ignored but individual student needs must be taken into consideration. The whole of the classroom cannot suffer either #EPARKCHAT

A2: you gotta have a conversation but it should be rooted in discovering why they want attention. It could be emotional or intellectual or they may not even understand they are interrupting. #EParkchat

A1 cont I also hate how mean they can be to each other. The pain they inflect can be so traumatic, and those traumas can stay with them for so long. These years shape them. #EPARKCHAT

A1: My greatest frustration is trying to get to the “why” behind their actions. With all the excuses and non-truths, and heresay... it’s tough. But, having a great team to bounce ideas, consult with and take emotions out, helps a ton!#EParkchat
