At #EUCEIevent, research roadmaps presented by European Alliance for Industrial Data, Edge and Cloud, @SWForumEU, @AIOTI_EU, @NESSI_ETP, HiPEAC, #FIWARE Foundation, and INSIDE highlighted key topics including, data-sharing, open standards, and interoperable architectures. The roadmaps also identified challenges such as, decentralised cloud/edge, cybersecurity, intelligent IoT devices, and trustworthiness.
The #EUCEIevent concluded yesterday, with the European Commission representatives highlighting some key takeaways from the rich discussions that took place. Top priorities and challenges discussed by the participants will help the EC shape the 2025-2027 work programme. Key topics included improving operations and achieving #autonomy in the continuum while respecting European values and #green principles, strengthening the role of #AI in empowering the convergence from components to the full Cloud-Edge-IoT continuum for supporting immersive technologies towards virtual worlds and the industrial #metaverse, transitioning towards the next generation #MetaOS, and, transversally, considering the critical importance of #security throughout the whole development process. Today at the #EUCEIEvent, attendees had the opportunity to participate in a tour of the Research and Innovation Action projects. The tour featured interactive sessions where representatives from different projects presented their aims, use cases, and results. The tour allowed participants to gain valuable insights into the latest developments of #cloud, #edge, and #IoT technology and to understand how these projects are shaping the future of these domains.
The sessions provided an excellent opportunity for #networking, #collaboration, and #knowledge sharing among attendees and project representatives. Showcasing these exciting projects served as a good appetiser for learning about impact in the future.

The #EUCEIevent proceeded with the third round of #EoI presentations on Next Generation #MetaOS and distributed IoT-edge objects. This session highlighted the needs and #challenges of merging the physical and virtual world, leveraging multi-sensed communication, and enabling self-adaptive environments. Participants also discussed the growing demand for bandwidth and optimisation in the Cloud-Edge-IoT continuum. Finally, it was mentioned that Indutrial #Metaverse is closer to implementation and economic feasible than the Metaverse for consumer. In the second round of expressions of interest presentations at #EUCEIevent, researchers and industrial speakers discussed key topics related to Computing Continuum infrastructure and European cloud servers. Key topics included #Advanced AI mechanisms (performance,robustness, autonomy), business models for effective federation of resource sharing, alternative #CPU architectures completely embedded in the continuum, among others. The first round of presentations on the future EC 2025-27 work programme at our #EUCEIevent focused on AIOps: Software tools for supporting #AI across the Continuum.
The presentations and panel discussion at the #EUCEIevent explored the latest advances in AIOps and how they can be applied across the Continuum, from cloud and edge computing to IoT and beyond. Topics discussed include self regulation frameworks to detect/mitigate #ethical and #social risks applying unbiased AI, self adapting cloud, #energy aware Operation Systems, #standards for semantic interoperability, Natural Language Processing to accelerate solutions in the Continuum and more
