#ExpressImpact | Almost two months after an investigation by The Indian Express revealed a Union Minister and a serving Central government secretary’s kin availing subsidy for their cucumber farms, the Centre has amended the ‘Scheme Guidelines of Commercial Horticulture and Cold Storage Schemes’ of the National Horticulture Board (NHB).
It has revised the definition of ‘family’ – bringing within its ambit the subsidy applicant’s spouse, father, mother, sons and daughters – and has made holders of constitutional posts, serving ministers, MPs, MLAs, mayors, district panchayat chiefs and government employees ineligible for financial assistance under NHB schemes.
