♒︎🌎 Así se propagaron las ondas sísmicas del #Terremoto del 🇲🇽 Golfo de #Tehuantepec [7.4 Mw | 17/Jul/2026] en Norteamérica.
Esta simulación gráfica procesada por el consorcio #EarthScope nos otorga una interpretación de la cinemática de las ondas sísmicas por este evento, divulgadas desde su centroide (es decir, el punto donde partió la ruptura sísmica) y recorriendo miles de kilómetros por la litósfera terrestre.
Los terremotos de gran magnitud liberan una enorme energía en forma de ondas que viajan a través y sobre la litósfera, atenuándose con la distancia pero siendo detectadas por redes globales de sismógrafos de alta sensibilidad.
Cada estación registra una firma única (forma de onda) con amplitudes y periodos de onda distintos, datos clave para esta visualización.
Leyenda:
• ⚪️ Cada círculo (marcadores) simboliza cada una de las estaciones activas, cuyos datos sísmicos recopilados cumplen con estándares de calidad para su procesamiento dentro de la simulación.
• ↕️ Existe una variable establecida por estación, donde de acuerdo a los cambios de la amplitud (ascendente/descendente) que haya detectado en función del tiempo mientras las ondas sísmicas incidieron por tal estación, su color sufre modificaciones: 🔴 El rojo indica un movimiento 🔼 ascendente del terreno, y 🔵 el azul indica un movimiento 🔽 descendente del terreno.
• 📈 Además, un color cada vez más intenso indica donde se registraron las máximas amplitudes de movimiento del terreno.
• 🔍 En la parte inferior se muestra una traza sísmica de una estación de referencia (señalada en un triángulo verde que apunta hacia abajo dentro del mapa), sirviendo como una pequeña representación adicional y de guía para reforzar la comprensión de la mecánica de ondas.
