_The concept, referring to a combination of Web3 and Physical Infrastructure, has been known by various names such as Proof of Physical Work (#PoPw), Token Incentivized Physical Networks (#TIPIN), #EdgeFi, or Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (#DePIN).
_Messari spearheaded a community voting on November 5, 2022, to choose a single term. The result was that DePIN was selected.

_Distributed computing is the method of making multiple computers work together to solve a common problem. It makes a computer network appear as a powerful single computer that provides large-scale resources to deal with complex challenges.
_There are 4 types of Distributed Computing:
1/ Client-server architecture
2/ Three-tier architecture
3/ N-tier architecture
4/ Peer-to-peer architecture (Blockchain)
_Blockchain is a type of Distributed Computing because data is distributed and managed across multiple different nodes in the network.
