Wind gust of 69 mph reported at Beaumont/Port Arthur Regional Airport in southeast Texas in association with Tropical Storm #Eduoard.
I feel a disturbance in the force ๐๐๐ง๏ธ #eduoard
Texas & Louisiana: #Eduoard will bring heavy rain that can cause coastal and inland flooding. Know how to get to higher ground if flooding starts. If you are driving, never drive through floodwaterโjust 1 foot of moving water can carry a car away.
10 am CDT - Tropical Storm #Eduoard is strengthening and expected to make landfall later today. Here is the latest information.
BREAKING: Tropical Storm #Eduoard has made landfall in southwest Louisiana near Johnson Bayou with maximum sustained winds of 60 mph. It is the third named storm this season to make landfall in the U.S. (Arthur & Bertha).

#Eduoard may bring deadly storm surge flooding to coastal communities in Texas and Louisiana. Stay alert for changing conditions, follow local updates, have a plan in place, know your evacuation routes, and leave immediately if officials asked to do so.
9/1 10am CDT: There is a possibility of life-threatening storm surge from #Edouard, where a Storm Surge Warning is in effect along the Upper Texas and southwestern Louisiana coasts.
Peak values of 3 to 5 ft above ground level are possible within the warning area.

#Eduoard making landfall near Port Arthur, TX.
Looks like a strong TS, with the biggest risks being heavy rain and a bit of storm surge.
10 am CDT - Tropical Storm #Eduoard is strengthening and expected to make landfall later today. Here is the latest information.
Visible satellite imagery confirms what recon has found inside #Eduoard - it is getting better organized and is strengtheining.
Curved bands and increased deep convection are present. With only a few hours until landfall, there's still time for more strengthening - please prepare if warned.
#Eduoard trying to make a run at a minimal hurricane before landfall. 63 mph winds on the eastern and western semicircles showing at 3.5k ft.

Well...maybe a fuel thing but recon is over for #Eduoard and no plane looks to be going back to it. That is still 4 1/2 hrs from shore at even a 8mph pace. Maybe this really can reach hurricane status after all....final pass showed 55mph and 1000mb.
Maybe the rapid intensification forecast I made 3 hrs ago is gonna verify.
I'll be damned....we got an eye feature fully formed up now and a closed off center. #eduoard
I'm so done with that stupid fucking #Eduoard storm for making me looks so dumb. Back to severe weather where my forte still lays and I remember my professor saying that. XD Anyway, it's pretty wild how the 12Z HRRR barely fires anything in the Western part of the slight risk other than NYC/Philly/NJ. What.....that can't be right. There should be storms in PA in general with that much broad forcing and instability. That looks weird.
Well new pass and only about 50mph. Pressure still steady at 1002mb. Oh....boy....#Eduoard really intensifying rapidly. :| I look so fucking stupid calling it like I did. UGH one fucking time I align in this storms lifetime I went with models and NHC.
I am furious at myself. This literally has to be a hurricane in order to verify that, that's not gonna happen fortunately it seems but I am pissed I made that call......fuck me dude.

Very recent Vortex Data Message from recon in #eduoard
Pressure down to 1002mb
Flight winds top out at 44 knots, so far, which suggests the winds have not increased significantly, yet.
Still important to prepare in case rapid strengthening occurs before landfall

We are 100% in rapid intensification mode with #Eduoard and it basically has 5 hrs in a literally perfect environment now to go as far as he want to go.
Eye wall and eye feature already formed so we may see this really jump up very very quick.
#Eduoard is looking great on radar this morning and there are indications of an eye wall trying to form here! This will be watched throughout the day! Recon is on their way to investigate!
I think #Eduoard is starting to get going after basically prepping its engines under the hood for the past 12-20 hours or so.
Several smaller rotating CBโs around the core and a more increasingly favorable environmentโฆ
Se saw ~7mb drop of pressure overnight from yesterday evening and now the signs on satellite appear before us.
Luckily thereโs a time constraint but 31 degree SST(Upper 80โs F) and a more relaxed environment briefly with the structure this system has some quicker intensification before landfall later today seems in the cardsโฆ
