Key highlights from Olympic Gold Medalist and Record-Breaking Athlete @Kipyegon_Faith at #EngageKe #EngageMilestonesKe
1. Humble Beginnings
"I was going to school barefoot, facing many hardships."
My family couldn’t afford the basics, but those struggles shaped me.
In Class 1, I went to stay with my sister, and by Standard 3, I was running to school.
School competitions sparked my passion for running.
2. Early Struggles and Support
I found ways to survive and thrive despite the odds.
My school coach, Charles Ngeno, discovered my potential, even though I didn’t win races at first.
I used to run 20km daily to and from his home for training, a challenge that strengthened me.
His understanding and support were pivotal to my journey.
3. Professional Journey
In 2010, I began running professionally.
My first international race was at the World Cross Country Championships in Poland when I was 16. I finished 4th, learning and growing from that experience.
"It was a hilarious moment, but growth is all about embracing those moments."
4. Significant Milestones
My most memorable moment remains that young girl running barefoot, even though today I have access to all the facilities I need.
5. Daily Routine
Morning: Start with prayer at 5:40 am, train from 6–7 am.
Mid-morning: Exercises from 10 am, lunch at 12 pm.
Afternoon: 10km training.
Evening: Rest, read, and prepare for the next day.
Discipline and consistency have been the keys to my success.
6. Adapting to Change
Transition is inevitable. I moved from 1500m to 5000m and 10,000m events.
As age catches up, it’s vital to adjust and maintain a focused mindset.
7. Handling Pressure
Big moments require calmness and focus.
I cope by watching funny movies and memes to lighten my mood. "I love smiling—it helps me stay grounded."
8. Motivation and Inspiration
My daughter is my biggest motivator. She always asks if I’ll win, inspiring me to strive for excellence.
My support system, including Eliud Kipchoge and my coaches, has been instrumental in my success.
9. Life Lessons
"Everything is possible in life, no matter where you come from."
With hard work, patience, and a strong support system, dreams can be achieved.

Personal story:
I didn’t have a good relationship with my father—he was distant and unaffectionate, and I often felt unworthy in his eyes.
In 2022, after a church sermon about forgiving fathers, I prayed for courage and initiated a conversation. For the first time, he acknowledged his actions, and I forgave him. That moment of reconciliation allowed us to start afresh.
7. Lessons from Responsibility
I’m grateful to my sister for trusting me with the responsibility of caring for my nephew. It was a defining moment that taught me invaluable life lessons.

Appreciate the privileges you have and give thanks for life’s treasures.
A reflection: Close your eyes and recognize the blessings in your life. Even in the face of obstacles, there is so much to be grateful for.
