This is one reason why @DevonCC failure to include nurseries & schools in the #ExeterLCWIP mapping & prioritisation process was so puzzling. Over-reliance on census data hides the nitty gritty of people's lives.

Always 😍 to safe cycling spaces in Exeter. We upcoming welcome changes to Rifford Rd. Sadly the "Lidl roundabout" a dangerous hotspot to people cycling was not included. We must point out the 🦣in the room of HeavitreeHonitonRd -not in the draft #ExeterLCWIP!
The draft #ExeterLCWIP studiously avoided placing cycle routes on main roads, even where their own evidence showed these were clearly needed.
We await the response to our feedback, informed by the experience of people who cycle in Exeter.
Will DCC listen & adapt the plan?
@phonicjazz We drew up a plan that could fix that #NursesWay. Thankfully in the draft #ExeterLCWIP but shockingly not scheduled for a gazilion years. But we hope that will change.

Officers need to hear real life stories
They don't live the network
No one person owns the plan
They've got lost in their lines & don't see the bigger picture
They've not considered areas with no safe alternatives to shonky roads

Hoboken, New Jersey is a dense city center that hasn’t had a traffic death in over 4 years. They’ve accomplished this by creating more narrow, one-way streets, high visibility crosswalks, raised intersections, curb extensions, bike & bus lanes, and removing parking spaces.
Cowley Bridge Rd cycling choices:

😲slip, dodge & bump on the pavement.

Ironically Twitter reminds us we joined 7yrs ago. Formed into a campaign group to respond to the inadequate E4 proposals along Union Rd & the Stoke Hill roundabout. Still not delivered.
