AI's most powerful CEOs hit the brakes https://t.co/bvBp1excGm SO::: if these guys really mean it, and IF it's not just a bizarre form of marketing, this is what needs to happen: 1) All AI IPOs must be postponed or even called off until these existential issues are addressed, COLLECTIVELY 2) The USA must sit down with CHINA, asap. and agree on at least an initial framework for an 'AGI Non-Proliferation Treaty' (APT) 3) A new economic model based on AI and the #intelligencerevolution, abundance and the end of most routine work must be investigated and constructed (such as the AI superfund idea, or "Universal Basic Capital") If this can be done I think we MAY have a chance to deal with what I now call #aiemergency (and no, that's not doomer talk, unfortunately). YET all 3 of these actions are highly unrealistic. I'd give a 25% chance, at best, in which case it will be 50%+ likely that we are going to see a MAJOR AI incident (global IT systems meltdown, extreme financial market manipulation followed by crashes, energy grid shutdowns etc) within the next 12 months.
