🇫🇷 FRANCE IS MAKING THE STRONGEST CASE YET FOR DECENTRALIZED EXCHANGES.
France is considering an exit tax on unrealized crypto gains for residents leaving the country with portfolios exceeding €800,000. Lawmakers also want to tax conversions into certain stablecoins beginning in 2027.
When you hold assets on a centralized exchange, you do not control the keys. Your holdings can be frozen, restricted or surrendered by an intermediary acting under government orders. A single directive can effectively deny you access to your wealth.
A noncustodial DEX like XRP has changes that equation. You retain control of your private keys, trade directly from your wallet and eliminate the centralized exchange as a point of custody and enforcement.
Imposing a tax and having immediate custodial control over someone’s assets are fundamentally different things.
Governments can write tax laws. Centralized exchanges can enforce account freezes. But a decentralized financial system does not require investors to surrender custody of their wealth merely to participate in markets.

Illinois has become a 'lawless state' trapping citizens and businesses with an 'exit limitation.' Property owners face an impossible situation as taxes exceed mortgage payments, mirroring Soviet-era controls. #IllinoisPolitics #ExitTax

Whilst this might put off some entrepreneurs from selling up & leaving after the Exit Tax is imposed, it’s immensely damaging for two reasons.
1. Before the Exit Tax is enacted entrepreneur’s withhold any further investment capital & potentially sell up before it becomes law.
2. Every single person with any business acumen/ ambition decides that they will not be coming to the UK or investing in the UK for the foreseeable. (With or without the Exit Tax even being brought through)!

Got to give them credit for their insane passion for coming up with new taxes.
Imagine if they used that energy for something good.

The European Commission literally just dropped a research on how to collect more taxes without making you angry enough to leave.
TLDR: higher wealth taxes, inheritance taxes + exit tax is coming
The REAL wealthy have no money in the EU, it's all safely held in Trusts on the #CaymanIslands and elsewhere. The only "wealthy" they will catch with an #exittax is of course the upper middle-class, which they intend to destroy, like the rest of the middle-class.
The European Union released a study last month about wealth confiscation from the richest of their citizens.
The study basically concludes that countries need to have strong exit taxes in place to prevent wealth from leaving as the socialists confiscate the property and money.
