Synopsis.
It alleged that on 2021-07-04 at 04:00 the complainant who is a Chinese National and his father were driving along Neethling street Meyerton when they were suddenly stopped by a white unmarked Ford double cap. The Police officers who were driving the unmarked Ford double started accusing the complainant of unlawfully selling liquor during lockdown. The complainant' vehicle was searched and nothing illegally was found.The complainant was forced by those Police officers and escorted him to his Liquor store. Those Police officers were then joined by other Police officers and on their arrival by the Liquor store,the searching was conducted by the Police officers and the Liquor worth R600 000.00 was confiscated and not booked in the SAPS 13.The cash of R700 000.00 was also stolen in the presence of the complainant and his father. The video camera system was broken by the Police officers and they stolen the hard-drive not knowing that there was a backup. The Police were doing all that while the complainant and his father were handcuffed. The complainant and his father were then arrested for a false Bribery case whereby the Police officers claimed that the complainant tried to Bribe them with R3000.00.The case of Theft, Corruption, Extortion and Malicious damage to property was later opened and referred to Gauteng Provincial Anti-Corrution and the investigation was conducted and finalized. The docket was taken to DPP for decision and the DPP decided to prosecute all the above mentioned members. The summons (J175) were issued for all the Members to appear at Vereeniging Magistrate Court on 2025-01-23. On 2024-11-28 the summons were served to allow the members and they were also processed accordingly.
