@Emersizzle @SHESPrincipal My thinking about the state's role in this is still evolving. Right now, I think schools are much better poised to inspire kids to teach than the state. I bet kids at your school would consider teaching because they enjoy the experience you are creating for them. #FASACHAT

@Emersizzle Lost 22 staff members in my final year as principal. Unprecedented in 31 years as an educator. Most were lost through higher salaries in neighboring districts. Yet, our staff rallied around the kids & they produced academically/socially. School went from C to a B! #FASACHAT 💫

@NRoutten A6: On-going informal observations w/our paraprofessional who worked w/our students! If parapro’s made positive connections w/ students and academic performance was being achieved, I’d have a conversation with the staff member on future thoughts of being a teacher. #FASACHAT 💫

@SchoolLeadersFL We have provided support in specific circumstances. Because of our unique programs, Ts may be required to have specific certification for the program, so we support them. #FASACHAT

A5. This year, we put specific supports in place, based on feedback from previous new teachers. We have a Regular New T Check-in, in addition to our topic-centered new T meetings. But I think it's important to get into Ts classes & give them feedback & support. #FASACHAT

@Bily_Michelle #FASAChat Agree 100% Many teachers (like myself) want leadership, but not interested in administration or coaching. There should be opportunities for these teachers.

A4. Wow, we could spend a lot of time addressing this Q. Diversity starts with intentional efforts to recruit & retain a diverse faculty & staff. That means interviewing diverse candidates. Going to HBCU job fairs. Considering non-traditional candidates. Etc #FASACHAT

Q6 - Grow experienced teachers that lead FROM the classroom. Empower them to mentor & be culture builders. Leadership should be about more than a path to coaching or admin roles. #FASACHAT

A5: On-going discussions w/beginning teachers-both formal and informal builds trust. Do not place extra assignments (club sponsor/coaching) on them unless they want to. Monitor it so it does not negatively impact student and teacher performance in the classroom. #FASACHAT 💫
