BarefootLaw is conducting a paralegal refresher training with our partners @uwonet under the #FATEProjectUG. The training sessions are taking place in Jinja & Iganga, Eastern Uganda.
In these sessions, we have learnt about the operation of paralegals in their respective communities. To aid their work, we are equipping the paralegals with tablets that are enabled with a digital platform, The BarefootLaw C-Node software, to facilitate sharing of cases faster with the legal teams at @uwonet, @barefootlaw_org , @PenalReformInt and @asf_eastafrica , especially cases concerning women and girls with intent to enable them to act on their Justice needs.

Women have the right to own and make decisions about property. The laws of Uganda say that any customs or traditions that stop or deny women the right to own property are unconstitutional.

We are still reeling from the excitement of installing yet another BarefootLaw Box!!!
This happened yesterday with Gulu District & Paicho SC leaders and the Police, under the #FATEProjectUG. The leaders said that this innovation will ease their community's access to justice.
We are pleased to learn that on average, there is a 92% satisfaction rate from the respondents who have used #FATEProjectUG services to access justice.
Also reported is the need to improve barriers to access for women such as internet connectivity, male dominance, among others.
Today, we join our partners in the #FATEProjectUG (From Access To Equality Project) for a retreat to discuss the findings & recommendations of a satisfaction survey concerning the activities we are each implementing, evaluate the impact so far and synergize for a better future.
