TRIBUTE TO THE BRAVE HEROES AND HEROINES OF BIAFRA WHO MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE 🫡
#Fellow Biafrans,
Today, we gather with heavy hearts and deep reverence to honor the memory of the millions of our brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, and children whose lives were lost during one of the most painful chapters in our history.
Biafra Memorial Day is not merely a day on the calendar. It is a sacred day of remembrance—a day to reflect on the sacrifices, courage, and resilience of a people who endured unimaginable suffering yet refused to surrender their dignity and hope.
Today, we pay tribute to the brave men and women who stood for what they believed in. We remember the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice. We remember the innocent civilians who perished from violence, hunger, disease, and displacement. We remember the children whose dreams were never allowed to blossom. Their memories live on in our hearts, and their stories remain part of our collective identity.
Though many years have passed, their sacrifices continue to speak to us. They remind us that freedom is never free, that justice must never be taken for granted, and that the truth of history must never be forgotten.
As we stand here today, we do not gather to celebrate war. We gather to honor the lives that were lost and to reaffirm our commitment to peace, justice, human dignity, and the preservation of historical truth. We remember those who suffered so that future generations may understand the value of unity, resilience, and self-determination.
To the fallen heroes and heroines of Biafra, we say: your sacrifices were not forgotten. Your courage continues to inspire us. Your memory remains alive in every generation that seeks justice, dignity, and freedom.
Let this day remind us of our responsibility to build a future worthy of the sacrifices made by those who came before us. Let us remain united in purpose, steadfast in conviction, and committed to the welfare and progress of our people.
As we bow our heads in remembrance, may we find strength in their legacy, wisdom in their sacrifices, and hope for a brighter tomorrow.
May the souls of all who lost their lives rest in perfect peace.
We remember them.
We honor them.
We cherish their legacy.
And we shall never forget.
Thank you all.

For @doctorsoumya, it is a great honour to be elected #Fellow of the #RoyalSociety.
Plenty on her 'to do' list as she tells @IndianExpress, addressing 'anti science' voices, nominating more women scientists..
