With respect to the man who called the housing crash — this take #fundamentally #misunderstands what Palantir actually IS:
1/ Burry’s argument is built on a #category #error.
He’s comparing Anthropic’s ARR growth to Palantir’s revenue and concluding competition. #But #these #companies #are #not #selling #the #same #thing. $Anthropic sells #intelligence. $Palantir sells #operational #infrastructure. That’s like saying a jet engine is eating Boeing’s lunch.
2/ The Ontology argument.
Palantir’s moat isn’t its AI model. #It’s #the #Ontology — a proprietary system that translates an organization’s raw, messy, classified, siloed data into structured AI-ready workflows. This took Palantir 20 years to build inside the most complex institutions on earth: the CIA, DoD, NHS, Fortune 500s.
No API — however intelligent — replaces that. Not Claude. Not GPT. Not Gemini.
3/ The Pentagon just proved this FOR us.
When Anthropic and the DoD had a safety dispute, Palantir was ordered to REMOVE Claude from Maven Smart Systems. They rebuilt and kept operating. #Know #what #that #tells #you? Palantir is the operating system. Claude was an app running on it.
You can swap apps. You can’t swap the OS.
4/ Burry says government is “low margin and small.”
The Pentagon just classified Maven AI as a Program of Record in March 2026 — that’s guaranteed long-term Congressional budgetary support. NATO defense spending is projected at $1.4 TRILLION. Trump personally called out Palantir’s warfighting capabilities this week.
“Small” is doing a lot of heavy lifting in Burry’s thesis.
5/ On the commercial side — the numbers Burry ignored:

Commercial deal value: +145% YoY ($4.38B)
Net Dollar Retention: 139%

Claude needs structured, permissioned, governed data to act safely inside enterprise and government. Palantir’s Ontology is exactly that layer. As AI adoption grows, demand for what Palantir does GROWS WITH IT.
Burry framed a partnership as a war. It isn’t.
7/ The valuation critique is Burry’s strongest point — and I’ll give him that.
At ~200x earnings, PLTR has no margin for doubt. A deleted X post wiped $23B in market cap in a day. That’s what happens when sentiment does most of the pricing.
But #high #valuation ≠ #wrong #thesis. It means the execution bar is high. So far, Palantir keeps clearing it.
8/ #Wedbush’s #Daniel #Ives — who has been right on this name — called Burry’s take a “#fictional #narrative” and maintained a $230 price target. The average analyst target sits at $185 vs ~$128 today.
Burry is short via 2027 put options at a $50 strike. If he was truly confident, why not go shorter-dated?
9/ Final thought:
Burry bet against subprime mortgages — assets that had NO fundamental backing.
Palantir has $7.2B in cash, no debt, 70% revenue growth, accelerating commercial bookings, a Pentagon Program of Record, and zero meaningful competition in classified AI.
