Happy #FieldworkFriday! This week we look at the receiving end of the field operations: When our field team installs a new seismometer or repairs broken equipment 🏚️, how do they know it’s working before they hop back into the helicopter 🚁 ? Whether it's through sat-phone ����️, cell phone📱, or email from a field laptop 💻, our office-bound systems (IT) team makes sure that seismic data from point A arrives at point B🔄. As long as there’s some type of connection with the station, the systems superstars can streamline the repairs in the field. The last step is actually a jump—the field crew does a stomp test to see if our office crew sees the wiggles come through loud and clear. Then, on to the next site👉 !

It's #FieldworkFriday time! Station SII on Sitkinak Island near Kodiak is back on track 🥳 after our field team fixed a power issue and upgraded the digitizer (the gizmo that converts the data into digital format so it can be transmitted to us). It's not often they luck out and have such great weather at this site! ☀️
Happy #FieldworkFriday! Check out this short video tour of a volcano monitoring station on the East Dome of Mount St. Helens. Our field crew flew out to EDM this week to maintain and upgrade the PNSN seismic station there.
It's time for #FieldworkFriday! 🚁Station R18K near Karluk on Kodiak Island got a COMPLETE overhaul! See our field team sending the hut off into the sky and guiding it into place on site. R18K is now almost a totally new station: new hut, new broadband seismometer, new battery bank, new satellite receiver, new GNSS receiver (the mushroom-shaped thing), new digitizer (which sends the data), new wiring board, new weather station, and new infrasound sensor. Whew! The only things they kept were the solar panels and the strong motion seismometer. They finished up by packing out all of the old equipment--we pack out what we pack in!

FALS -- integral to tracking Alaska's large, offshore earthquakes. On this #FieldWorkFriday, we take you to a hard-to-reach station in False Pass, population: 35. A couple of days worth of work might take 10 because of weather. But our intrepid field team manager Carolyn got this station upgraded! See if you can "spot the difference" in the two pairs of before and after photos.

Happy #FieldWorkFriday! Station WPEQ out near Goat Rocks, WA can be hard to reach in the snowy season. So when it needed some repair our staff had to pop on some skis, hop on a chair lift, and get to digging.
