Hey #brownwater people. I walked into a local shop and saw this on the shelf. No price tag...I figured he would slay me on it. He said 89 bucks! Done-and-run! This is a #firstpour for me. I usually wait the five minutes that @d_tao recommends, but this smelled so darn good I only got about half of that. The first Crack of the bottle released a warm sweet oaky goodness. The pour doubled it. I walked out of the room after I poured for about a minute. When I came back the goodness was in the air. The nose of the glass was even better. Warm cinnamon, vanilla, tobacco, and a solid oak char. The first sip was buttery cinnamon rolls and vanilla. This drifted to deep baking spices. The buttery feel to it was long. As it finished, I got the char and more vanilla. If I had known how good this was, he could have charged me double. This was a darn good barrel! This is a #firstpour for me.

Good evening, #brownwater people. What are you sipping on tonight? I went for a #firstpour of some Cream of Kentucky Small Batch. After waiting the @d_tao prescribed five minutes, I found a lot of fresh oak on the nose with a hint of Caramel. The first sip was a little sweet, but not overly so. It leaned into the caramel and added some corn flakes and sugar cookies. The mouthfeel was viscous, but not syrupy. Towards the end, it drifted into some baking spices, them back to the cron flakes before it finished clean. While I liked it, it didn't quite have the game for the price. When you are playing in the $100 dollar range, you need to swing a little harder. Hey #brownwater people, here is a #firstpour taste. Tonight, I went for an Old Forester Single Barrel Barrel Strength that I've had buried in my cabinet for about a year. @d_tao says to let it sit for five minutes before you touch it, so I did. Nose: The first hit I got on the nose was coffee. (Surprised the heck out of me) It drifted to a hardwood humidor with some warm sugar cookies. Taste: There were leather and coffee notes up front which drifted into dark cherries and warm caramel. There was a warm sweetness that was front to finish. The finish went from the dark fruit of the cherries to warm caramel and baking spices with the familiar Bananas Foster drifting to a clean finish. Darn this was good!
