Remembering Chris Summers, born #OnThisDay in ’28. Pic: his ex-#F1 Lotus 24 into which he’d squeezed a Chevy V8 where a 1.5-litre Climax had resided. He raced the car in #FormulaLibre in the ’60s & died when he was thrown out of a Lola at Snetterton in ’70 (he never wore belts).
The #Rothmans50000 was a non-championship #FormulaLibre race held at Brands Hatch #OnThisDay in ’72. The prize fund was £50,000. Run over a mammoth 118 laps (312.64 miles/503.15km), it was won by Emerson Fittipaldi in this Lotus 72D.
