One year ago, I started a #FreeAdultBasicLiteracyClass as part of my community development service(NYSC) to my host community in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti,🇳🇬.The class was especially for women within reproductive age to gain basic literacy.

@ekiti_hubb I learnt the word "Pakaso" meaning "Difficult" from my adult learners attending the #FreeAdultBasicLiteracyClass.
I was dumbfounded the first time I heard it from them.
We were happy to receive @kayodeteslim this evening in our #FreeAdultBasicLiteracyClass as he connected our adult learners to a teacher in Bangladesh via @SkypeClassroom.
The women beamed with joy as they conversed in English and experienced video call for the first time.

I was particularly overwhelmed because these women moved from stark illiterates to being able to read, write and communicate in English in the span of 4 months. I'm grateful to everyone who has supported this project materially and financially so far. #FreeAdultBasicLiteracyClass
All my students have functional bank accounts but lack the basic knowledge of using the accounts.
Today, they learnt how to fill a bank teller. Using a chalkboard template and some dummy tellers, we had an interesting lesson this evening.

Yesterday, we couldn't get access to the school we use for the #FreeAdultBasicLiteracyClass. Students were on ground and ready to learn. Outside the school was a beautiful tree shade and a bench to sit. Boom! Our class moved to the shade and lesson held regardless.

My student, one of the women attending the #FreeAdultBasicLiteracyClass gave me this letter during our class session this evening. On top of my euphoria is her learning growth through these past weeks. I sincerely hope and pray this program get sustained in Ikere-Ekiti.
Tuesdays and Wednesdays of the past thirteen weeks have been experience-filled!
Happy to be teaching a set of consistent and hard working women who are giving themselves a second chance to becoming literates.

We also had a brainstorming session where they used words learnt in their Queen primer to form sentences and render them in class presentations.
Not all rosy but we're making progress and putting the sponsorship we've gotten so far to good use. #FreeAdultBasicLiteracyClass
One of the women attending the #FreeAdultBasicLiteracyClass is struggling to move at the same pace with others, I did an individualized assessment and It appears that she's yet to master alphabets. So, to be able to read a primer, I took her back to basics. @nyscekiti @nysc_ng
Basically,I would be improvising alot in order to maximize funds and sponsorship. I intend to leave these women much more better than I met them. #FreeAdultBasicLiteracyClass #CommunityProject
