BMC UNDER POLITICAL PRESSURE ???
As anticipated in our post of 22nd Aug, all the stalls located on Nehru Rd, TPS3 Santacruz East, which were demolished by BMC are rebuilt the next day!
The attached pictures speak for themselves.
Interesting to note that BMC team left behind all the demolished stall infrastructure (tin sheds, plywood, planks, shelves , shutters etc) so it was very convenient for the stalls to rebuild w/o incurring heavy costs within a few hours.
BMC needs to explain this and why no criminal action has been taken on such repeat offenders.
Is BMC under political pressure??
Were only selected stalls demolished because they had not paid their hafta?
Why were other stalls occupying 100% and beyond of footpath not demolished??
Who is protecting them??

BMC has cleared 68km of footpaths in 14-day drive, & removed 112 hawkers and 77 illegal structures:
Between Aug 1 and 14, the civic administration carried out 337 actions. Besides the hawkers and illegal structures, 49 street furniture installations, 63 instances of storage material, 27 shop signboards, 14 other signboards and 49 banners were removed.
BMC also acted against 25 structures adjoining authorised shops that were obstructing pedestrian movement, repaired eight footpaths and cleared eight unauthorised parking spaces that had come up on footpaths.

BMC on Thursday removed 15 unauthorised shops and 15 hawkers obstructing footpaths in Dadar East and Santacruz East under its ‘Pedestrian First’ campaign. The F-South ward removed four shops, 12 temporary tarpaulin sheds, six unauthorised platforms and 15 hawkers along Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road in Dadar East. In Santacruz East, the H-East ward removed 11 unauthorised shops, including a food van, from TPS-3 roads and Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari Road.

📢 Update on BMC Commissioner's orders to keep Mumbai's footpaths encroachment-free:
A day after directing civic officials to clear encroachments from footpaths across Mumbai, BMC Commissioner @AshwiniBhide orders strict monitoring and accountability mechanism to ensure implementation of the drive.
Details below 👇
- Assistant Commissioners will conduct daily inspections of footpaths in their wards and review daily progress reports with before-and-after photographs.
- Deputy Commissioners will carry out weekly zonal reviews and submit reports to the Additional Municipal Commissioners.
- Additional Municipal Commissioners will review the progress every 15 days.
- Commissioner has warned that any negligence, delay or failure to implement the orders will not be tolerated.
- Responsibility will be fixed on the concerned officers, who will face strict disciplinary action for any lapse.
- Officials have also been directed to prepare a priority-wise list of footpaths to ensure systematic implementation and continuous monitoring.
A detailed engineering and design directions for footpaths is issued, including:
- Removal of non-standard or uneven ramps.
- Ensuring building entrances and doors open inward within property boundaries, not onto footpaths.
- Scientific pruning of tree branches obstructing pedestrian movement.
- Construction of new footpaths only as per the prescribed standard design using M40-grade concrete.
- No use of paver blocks or stamped concrete for new footpaths.
- Removal of gaps, uneven levels and other physical obstacles to make footpaths safe and accessible for pedestrians.
Even if 50% of this target is achieved it will be nothing less than a miracle.

Remove encroachments and free up Mumbai's footpaths - BMC Commissioner @AshwiniBhide
At a review meeting held on Friday, BMC Commissioner Ashwini Bhide directed civic officials to prioritise the removal of encroachments from footpaths across Mumbai.
As per BMC, Assistant Commissioners have been instructed to clear footpaths near schools, hospitals, railway stations, Metro stations, bus terminals and markets by removing unauthorised hawkers, illegal structures and improperly constructed ramps to make them safe and accessible for pedestrians.
Commissioner said clean and unobstructed footpaths are a hallmark of a well-functioning city, noting that nearly 50 per cent of Mumbai's residents rely on walking as part of their daily commute. She added that encouraging greater use of footpaths would improve traffic flow and help reduce pollution.
No action yet on this illegal structure , activities still happening under @mybmcWardGN as they have greased their hands here , we urge @AshwiniBhide ji to crackdown on this illegal structure.
