The Met Police will no longer investigate NCHIs. This is welcome news and a direct result of the campaign led by The Free Speech Union. But, the fight is far from over.
What must happen now is simple.
ALL other UK police forces must follow the Met’s lead and abandon not just the investigation of NCHIs, but the recording too. NCHIs must not be recorded in a way that is disclosable in enhanced DBS checks that could prevent you from getting a job.
This announcement is El-Alamein, not D-Day.
