Lo que siguió fueron horas de combate sin descanso. Disparando hasta que los cañones ardían. Destruyendo vehículos con misiles anticarro. Abatiendo a un terrorista que se abalanzó sobre ella a quemarropa, con una fracción de segundo para apretar el gatillo.
Con humo por todas partes, dirigió con señales a un único tanque. Coordinó helicópteros de rescate mientras estaban bajo fuego enemigo. Y, junto a sus hombres, mantuvo a raya a los terroristas para proteger los kibutz que quedaban a sus espaldas.
Cuando finalmente se disipó el humo, recorrió lentamente la fila de soldados caídos. Hombres y mujeres que lo habían dado todo para que otros pudieran vivir. Les acarició el rostro, les susurró unas palabras de disculpa y cerró suavemente sus ojos.
Entre una multitud de terroristas y miles de civiles que dormían ajenos a lo que estaba ocurriendo se interpusieron apenas 12 soldados, dirigidos por una mujer que se negó a ceder un solo palmo de terreno.
Recuerda este rostro. Recuerda este nombre.
