@kpmcentee Guten Tag, you can read it here: @law_djm: Honored to take part in today's #FutureofLegalEd chat, but it's also day 4 of licensing reformโฆ https://t.co/9mKs7VC700 Enjoy :) ๐ค
#ICYMI: @lawdotcom hosted a #FutureofLegalEd Twitter chat where leading legal educators offered a frank discussion on where legal education should (and shouldn't) head in the days to come.
@SUCollegeofLaw's @NinaKohn joined the conversation.

What would you #change about the #BARexam if you could #reform it before taking it? Top-to-bottom #changes to it are on the way. @lawdotcom's #FutureofLegalEd @Twitter Chat discussed how to better align its means with its purpose, such as questioning its emphasis on memorization.

Had fun tweeting about the #FutureofLegalEd with @lawdotcom today. Looking forward to the conversation continuing & evolving! Thanks @KarenSloanNLJ; @law_djm, @darbydickerson, @DBRodriguez5; @ProfessorGriggs -- it was terrific to join you for a thought-provoking exchange.
That's a wrap! Thanks to all our panelists and participants for a great chat! Use #FutureofLegalEd to continue the conversation, and click the hashtag to revisit the chat. Have a safe and happy holiday season, and here's to a brighter future in 2021!

Honored to take part in today's #FutureofLegalEd chat, but it's also day 4 of licensing reform recommendations from https://t.co/WCcN1PTKzf with @IAALS. So here we go: (4) Replace essay Qs with performance tests or more time for the existing PTs.
@JoshGalperin Put positively: real modernization of legal ed requires getting into what is taught & how it's taught (not just format-online/F2F/other), & what is research & how that's shared, plus $$$ & uni context, rather than picking at margins (faculty identity, testing). #FutureofLegalEd
@darbydickerson @lawdotcom Agreed @darbydickerson! Multiple choice questions on the #barexam should focus on foundational core, knowledge. Without foundational knowledge, lawyers aren't in a position to "look up the answers" because they don't even know what questions to ask. #FutureofLegalEd
@lawdotcom @DiplomaPriv4All My greatest hope is that state courts, current bar examiners and ABA regulators will listen to @law_djm and work with ASP professionals and recent bar takers and create an effective system that is equitable and protects all. 3/ #FutureOfLegalED

@lawdotcom I'm not sure. I fear the increase in applications will induce complacency rather than push us to embrace innovation, experimentation and diversity of approach in legal education. #FutureofLegalEd
@lawdotcom Also, resist please thinking about this as only "attorney" licensing. It's about legal services and the needs of We the People. Not just about the attorneys. #FutureofLegalEd
@lawdotcom Everything turns on our ability to move stakeholders. About the strategy, but always about the incentives. We need evidence-based solutions, experiments, & the bipartisan approaches. #FutureofLegalEd
@lawdotcom And for legal education, I hope we will be able to preserve the good parts of online teaching and other adaptations we've made. Changes in licensing may also provoke changes in legal ed. #FutureofLegalEd
@lawdotcom A cautious "yes" on both. On licensing, the pandemic intensified interest in research on how to improve our licensing--and also showed some states that it *is* possible to innovate. #FutureofLegalEd
@lawdotcom Yes: The pandemic has forced faculty to rethink how they teach and not simply to rely on ancient teaching notes and past practice. Itโs an incredible opportunity to improve teaching and learning. #FutureofLegalEd
Q8: Do you think legal education and the attorney licensing process will ultimately be improved as a result of the challenges created by the pandemic? #FutureofLegalEd

@darbydickerson @lawdotcom I agree with @darbydickerson. The future for online ed is ripe with opportunities to marry skills and doctrine. Online classes cannot be successful w/out such a union. #FutureOfLegalEd
@ProfessorGriggs @lawdotcom And, sadly, there will be no "snow days" in the future. #FutureofLegalEd
