FFS we already had this stupid proxy fight about eligibility & differentiation wrt #GCFund travel policy...can we not do this again. Economy class travel should be covered for all developing country members, alternates, specified # of advisors who need it (+observers!). The end.
We had a good, substantive exchange on access modalities; now the #LossAndDamage Fund Board is moving to a discussion of travel policy, which sounds innocuous but is retraumatizing for those of us who remember the shitshow that was the #GCFund negotiation on this topic.
Note that this is not as consequential as e.g. the #GCFund host country being Korea. The Philippines will only host the LDF Board, not its staff/Secretariat (housed at the World Bank). It's really about legal personality for the Board & the occasional venue for a Board meeting.
#LossAndDamage Fund Board now doing the extended verbal Doodle session that's painfully familiar from #GCFund Board meetings. Suggestions for the next Board meeting to be in Songdo and Azerbaijan has offered to host the third. No dates confirmed yet.
@liane_boell As Liane is now saying, lumping all observer interventions into a separate agenda item makes it impossible for us to engage substantively on key issues as they are being deliberated and decided. #GCFund and others allow interventions on each agenda item at discretion of co-chair.

We would like to see a stronger and more ambitious Strategic Plan of #GCFund explicitly centered in human rights, including the rights of Indigenous Peoples, gender equality, and rights-based climate action.
Prioritize partnerships with civil society, #IndigenousPeoples, women, people with disabilities, youth & local communities as agents of change not merely victims of the #ClimateCrisis
As a reminder, other funds like the #GCFund allow civil society to participate in, not just observe, the proceedings. This is a basic necessity to ensure transparency and accountability. Observers must not be relegated to overflow rooms or denied the ability to speak. (2/4)
