#GLISSNet collecting a PONAR grab in the St. Louis River, Duluth, MN. Researchers from U. of Michigan invented the PONAR for Great Lakes research ca1960. PONAR is written in all caps because it is named after scientists C Powers, R Ogle, Jr., V Noble, J Ayers, & A. Robertson.

#MeetAnInvader Meet Chris McMahon, our lab’s newest Biological Research Technician! Chris comes to us from Frederick, MD. He is currently splitting his time between the #NBIC program, the #MudCrab Project, and sorting samples for our #GLISSNet Project! 🤗
#MeetAnInvader Since joining our lab, Kristina has been looking at benthic invertebrates from #SFBay and working on a variety of field campaigns for the #BZS and #GLISSNet teams. She's on deck to help out with #Nearshore and #MudCrab Surveys next year, as well!
#WaybackWednesday Back in September, the #GLISSNet Team completed a second Benthic Retrieval in Duluth, MN. Thanks to our friends at the @EPAGreatLakes and some new and old familiar faces, we pushed through all the rainy days & completed our PONAR sampling!
The #GLISSNet team is back from Duluth, MN after collecting benthic and zooplankton samples at 50 sites in the Saint Louis River (Duluth/Superior) for early detection. Special thanks to our EPA partners in Duluth (GLTED) @EPAGreatLakes for making it all happen.
