Awareness & outreach activities in communities is a vital aspect of #GLOF2Pakistan.
Mock Drills are being conducted in all target valleys to equip communities especially women with Disaster Risk Reduction/Disaster Risk Management in collaboration with @gbrspofficial & @DCDKP.
NPD #GLOF2Pakistan, opened the session & talked about tourism, being 1 of the sectors most affected by the pandemic, affecting economies, livelihoods & the importance for us to have a deeper understanding of other threats to our mountain communities such as adverse impacts of CC.

Scaling-up of Glacial Lake Outburst Floods risk reduction in Northern Pakistan (GLOF-II) project aims to empower communities to identify & manage risks associated with GLOFs, improve community preparedness & disaster response capacities.

GBDMA & #GLOF2Pakistan are closely monitoring the situation. 15 houses have been reportedly damaged. Vulnerable residents of the area have been evacuated to safer locations by district admiration. No loss of life has been reported.
A Glacial Lake Outburst Flood occurred on 16th July 2021 in Badswat valley, Ishkoman north of Ghizer District. The GLOF incident has resulted in an increase in water flow in Ishkoman river gravely affecting road linking area to other parts of district & rest of GB.
