On November 15th, in Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., Wajahat Saeed Khan's @pak_futures hosted the Georgetown Pakistan Public Policy Conclave (#GP3C), a forum dedicated to examining public policy and public health challenges in Pakistan. The event aimed to engage both the Pakistani diaspora and policymakers in meaningful dialogue. #SochVideos correspondent, @AreebaFatimaa, interviewed four key presenters, @HamidMirPAK, @AkbarSAhmed, @MehlaqaCAPJ, and @WajSKhan, who shared insights on the 27th Amendment and concerns around transnational repression in Pakistan.

Students who showed up with commitment, courage, and belief that our community can create rooms where ideas matter and futures shift.
Here are just some of our stellar student team who worked most of this semester to get here!
Proud of every single one of them. Onward. 🇵🇰💚

I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down
Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town
I wear it for the prisoner who is long paid for his crime
But is there because he's a victim of the times

I is for Imran and J is for Jinnah.
Just got back after the #GP3C conference after a long but interesting and intellectually stimulating day at Georgetown University, followed by dinner with a wonderful group of friends.
Panels packed with exceptionally talented and inspirational individuals, great networking with Pakistanis from all across the US, and the opportunity to learn from diverse perspectives. @WajSKhan and the @pak_futures team did a fantastic job all round!
Some observations from the day:
1- The biggest cheers were for Imran Khan! He, without any doubt, has the support of an overwhelming number of overseas Pakistanis.
2- Hamid Mir was surprisingly (for me) balanced and, while he played within his boundaries, he was very clear both about Pakistan being under an authoritarian regime, which would not last, and also about the "one prisoner" who "powerful people in Pakistan are fighting against."
3- The liberals in the room and the thinktank panelists were effectively challenged by the audience (including @MehlaqaCAPJ, who also moderated a panel).
4- Wajahat himself did a great job of challenging, moderating, asking the difficult questions, particularly in the final "Great Debate" panel, including to the Pakistani Ambassador, who he basically directly said was representing an illegitimate regime.
But my favorite was his closing ABCs, where I was for Imran, and J for Jinnah. The closing sessions weren't livestreamed, and I failed to record it as I was so busy watching and listening, so I hope they eventually get uploaded.
(P.S. The third of his three outfits of the day was my favorite!)
5- I had the privilege of listening to Ambassador Akbar S. Ahmed speak and the honor of shaking his hand later. He is, as Wajahat said, a rockstar!
6- I wish I could have asked Amb. Robin Raphel a question. I wanted to ask her if a positive US-Pakistan relationship was the only thing that matters, or does the fact that the face of that relationship on the Pakistani side is a brutal dictator matter.
7- The least impressive of all the panelists was Amb. Rizwan Sheikh. And, yes, that's with Raza Rumi included among that list.
8- Miftah was great, Uzair was not. I was also really glad that Taimur @Jhagra was able to join, if only virtually. His absence would have left a vacuum as his was the only PTI voice. Zulfi Bukhari, for some unknown reason, was a no-show.
9- This was not an ISI-sponsored event. Far from it. Kudos to the students who put it all together. They are awesome!
Speaking at the Georgetown Pakistan Policy Conclave #GP3C, leading Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir said the 27th Amendment is not a sign of strength but a sign of weakness and fear.
The people of Pakistan will take their country back!
In his opening statement at The Great Debate Townhall of the Georgetown Pakistan Public Policy Conclave #GP3C, PTI's Taimur @Jhagra described the dystopia that Pakistan's democracy has become under #AsimLaw.
Instead of being at the conference in person, Taimur Jhagra was forced to join virtually after being prevented from traveling to the United States from Pakistan by the country's military regime.

What impact does "entrenched military authoritarianism in Pakistan" have on investment?
"Military and intelligence agencies, in collusion with the civilian government ... shut down the internet ... cost[ing] the Pakistani economy 1.62 billion dollars"
