#GSCSTWW I can't wait to share some key pieces (writing wallet and more) with a specific teacher I will be coaching next yr. She is a wonderful teacher and so eager to learn! She desires to have every student succeed, so I know I can start there.

@MsMLockett A3- I personally struggle with reading. I’m more math, so my focus tends to be related more to that. I know I don’t read enough for leisure. My goal is to increase that. I’d love to start a book club at school. I’ve been working on the logistics of it already. #GSCSTWW
A5- We could work together to share ideas, find quality mentor sentences from text, and come up with specific lessons. It would be fun do an author study and work with peers to come up with writing lessons based on the author’s work. #GSCSTWW

A2: we feel too much pressure to “hit” every piece of every standard, so we breeze through, hitting what we need to hit ineffectively because we aren’t teaching to the specific learner. Teaching to the learner and teaching WELL will help the rest come together! #GSCSTWW

A4-explicit model-I forget just knowing where and how to start is a struggle for many students.I used to give more of an overview-saying”they’ll write the same thing if I give too much”many of our students are missing the foundational pieces of writing, so we MUST model. #GSCSTWW

A3- I think many teachers struggle with confidence to teach writing, so they skip the modeling piece, because they lack confidence. I think again, consistency is key. So holding trainings and book clubs like this to pinpoint our weaknesses as instructors and combat those #GSCSTWW
@MsMLockett A4- I will definitely focus on that one key quality in each lesson. I will continue to use mentor text to provide examples of that key quality and provide feedback specifically on that key quality. #GSCSTWW
@MsMLockett A6- It all revolves around the revision process. Once you teach the large group focus lesson on one of the key qualities, kiddos take that info and go to their wallet and their writing from writing workshop. In the end, with this in mind, the wallet gives them ownership. #GSCSTWW
