And in issue 11 Eve Chase (@EveAChase) & Caitlin Rose were our guides to the second #GravitationalWave catalogue #GWTC2.

The half-time harvest of #O3 #GravitationalWave detections was in on page 11.
Eve Chase (@EveAChase) and Caitlin Rose described working on #GWTC2 with 39 observations!

#GravitationalWaves astronomy is a young field, but with so many #BlackHoles detected we have more data than we know how to plot...and our graphs start to look as much like art as they do science! Take this "violin plot" from our #GWTC2 catalog paper... https://t.co/CUgMNk6JGX

Also for #GWTC2, Teresita Ramirez and Geoffrey Lovelace, building on work by many others in the @SXSProject made this beautiful #BlackHoleOrrery showing 38 #BlackHoles mergers confirmed in that catalog - and this time with theme music! Happy #BlackHoleWeek https://t.co/T8umBCiXv0
For our previous @LIGO @ego_virgo catalog, #GWTC2 (published Oct 2020) here's another super cool cartoon #BlackHoleOrrery from @actualdrdoctor: https://t.co/QW67rkRHwp. Find out lots more about #GWTC2 at https://t.co/CUgMNk6JGX #BlackHoleWeek
We love this cool new cartoon animation, by by @uoregon's @actualdrdoctor, showing the 50 #GravitationalWaves in our @LIGO @ego_virgo #GWTC2 catalog, published in Oct 2020! For more about #GWTC2 check out https://t.co/CUgMNk6JGX
A lot has happened since our #GW150914 discovery. 6 years, and 50 confirmed detections (and watch out for more coming soon!..), and our #GravitationalWaves family portrait is getting very crowded! For much more about our latest catalog #GWTC2, see https://t.co/CUgMNjP8in

GWTC-2.1 presents a total of *1201* candidates! We expect most of these to be noise, but 44 have probability > 50% of being astrophysical. 36 of those were already reported in #GWTC2, but our new @ligo @ego_virgo paper includes *8 new promising candidate events*!!

We published the original #GWTC2 catalog in Oct 2021: it presented 39 confident #GravitationalWaves detections from #O3a, adding to the 11 events previously reported in #GWTC1. For a quick recap on #GWTC2 check out our science summary at https://t.co/Goy6K8yzaK

@LIGO @ego_virgo @LISACommunity I’m thinking a “swallow” of black holes would work! #BlackHoles #GWTC2 #BlackHolesCollectiveNoun
Last but not least for #GWTC2: say hello to #GW190930_133541. This was one or our lighter "catches" in the catalog: ~12 and ~8 solar masses, about 0.8Gpc away. This merger was spotted by @LIGOLA and @LIGOWA so not that well localized (but its skymap looks pretty!) #BlackHoleWeek

The first half of our 3rd @LIGO @ego_virgo Observing Run (#O3a) ran to Sep 30 2019. On the second-last day we detected #GW190929_012149, another #GWTC2 "newbie" that comprised #BlackHoles of ~65 and ~26 solar masses, merging about ~3.7Gpc from Earth #BlackHoleWeek

Our *least* massive #GWTC2 #BlackHoles are #GW190924_021846: a mere ~9 and ~5 solar masses that merged about 0.6Gpc from the Earth. This event was also quite well localized, to a few hundred sq deg in the direction of Cancer or Hydra #BlackHoleWeek

Both #GW190909_114149 and our next #GWTC2 event, #GW190910_112807, weren't previously reported as candidates - and both were spotted by only 2 detectors: @LIGOLA and @ego_virgo for #GW190910_112807, a ~44 and ~35 solar mass #BlackHoles merger about 1.6Gpc away #BlackHoleWeek

Onto Sep '19 and our next #GWTC2 detection: #GW190909_114149. These two #BlackHoles, ~43 and ~28 solar masses, merged nearly 5Gpc away - and given the uncertainties on our #GWTC2 distance estimates, this is *probably* our most distant detection yet #BlackHoleWeek

Our next @LIGO @ego_virgo #GWTC2 shout-out is #GW190828_065509, which arrived just 21 mins after #GW190828_063405 (now you see why we need those long event names!): ~23 & ~10 solar mass #BlackHoles that merged about 1.7Gpc away (most likely towards Vela or Puppis) #BlackHoleWeek

Before we look at the bright future for #GravitationalWaves, let's finish our round-up of #GWTC2 discoveries - starting with this lovely animation of #BlackHoles mergers created by our @LIGO colleagues at @csuf - it's really quite hypnotic! #BlackHoleWeek

Our Aug '19 highlight? The mysterious #GW190814. After that nature gave us a break until Aug 28th...when 2 #GWTC2 events arrived just 21 mins apart!
Meet #1: #GW190828_063405, two ~32 & ~26 solar mass #BlackHoles about 2Gpc away. (Tune in Friday for #2's story!...) #BlackHoleWeek

Aug '19 got going quickly with another #GWTC2 newbie: #GW190803_022701. This #BlackHoles merger, ~36 and ~27 solar masses, was roughly 3.7Gpc away. It was spotted by all 3 detectors, but was one of our weaker #GWTC2 events and not so well located on the sky #BlackHoleWeek
