Le Togo affiche un score de 56/100 dans le Global Youth Participation Index (#GYPI) de @EPDeu . Un chiffre qui reflète une jeunesse engagée dans la vie socio-économique, mais toujours sous-représentée dans les sphères politiques.
✔ 84/100 en développement socio-économique
✔ 38/100 seulement en participation politique
✔ 21 % des lycées connectés à Internet : une fracture numérique persistante
📉 Les jeunes portent l’avenir, mais se heurtent à des obstacles majeurs : chômage, verrouillage des instances politiques, absence de mécanismes d’inclusion.
🕯 Du 26 au 28 juin, la répression de manifestations pacifiques a fait 7 morts. Une réalité tragique qui souligne l’urgence de garantir un espace civique libre, sûr et ouvert pour la jeunesse.

Togo scores 56/100 in the Global Youth Participation Index (#GYPI) from the Youth Democracy Cohort. This figure reflects a youth engaged in socio-economic life, yet still underrepresented in political spheres.
✔ 84/100 in socio-economic development;
✔ Only 38/100 in political participation;
✔ 21% of secondary schools connected to the Internet: a persistent digital divide.
📉 Young people hold the future, but face major obstacles: unemployment, lockout from political institutions, and lack of inclusion mechanisms.
🕯 From 26 to 28 June, the repression of peaceful protests resulted in 7 deaths. A tragic reality that underscores the urgency of ensuring a free, safe, and open civic space for youth.

#GYPI is unique 👏but does not guarantee leadership from youth orgs! Due to complex project criteria, local #peacebuilders often have to partner w/ intermediaries, generally leading to a power imbalance. Sustainable #peace = prioritization of equal partnership & local leadership.
Today, the @UN Secretary-General's Peacebuilding Fund's Youth Promotion Initiative remains the largest dedicated funding measure in support of the implementation of the Youth, Peace and Security agenda.
