Just spent about an hour talking to a gay guy on a bench in the sun about The Trans / Queer Stuff. He spotted me and said hello. People don’t understand the extent to which lesbians and gays in the early gay rights movement fought to keep the fetishists out of the movement, and how necessary that was to gain any legitimacy and success. Fetishists (like the exhibitionists on display here) will take any opportunity to normalize, and publicize their fetishes, and of course a civil rights movement that has to do with sexuality was going to attract them. It was a real concerted effort to keep them out. Liberals really believe that there is unstoppable momentum towards progress, and are naïve to the reality that it can be reversed. It absolutely can.
