New Yorkers got sick of subway crime back in the 80s too.
In '79, 24-year-old Curtis Sliwa, a high school dropout, started the Magnificent 13 - a volunteer group of bad motherfuckers who patrolled the subway at night.
Subway riders behaved when these guys were on the train. Those few who wanted to fuck about got their asses beaten in front of everyone - and New Yorkers loved it!
The group of karate-trained ass kickers were mostly minority teens. They were fed up with crime infested streets and subways.
The group later became The Guardian Angels.
There is no way in hell a group like this would be allowed to function in today’s NYC.
