The September quarter print looks clean.
Q2 FY'27 #Results:
Revenue ₹860.62 Cr, PBT ₹52.51 Cr, EPS ₹17.20, all up YoY. The stock had already run from ~₹875 in early September to ~₹1,000 by 7 October. On the filing it touched ~₹1,010, then gave the whole thing back to ~₹880 on the heaviest volume in months. Last around ₹890.
The balance sheet is where the quarter actually sits.
Total assets at 30 Sep 2026: ₹1,283.73 Cr
Non-operating (investments, investment property, deposits): ₹998.07 Cr, 77.75%
Everything else: ₹285.66 Cr, 22.25%
In March that split was 73.77% / 26.23%.
H1 FY27 PBT: ₹102.94 Cr
Operations: ₹93.25 Cr, 90.59%
Other income: ₹9.69 Cr, 9.41%
The cash flow explains the drift. H1 operating cash ₹95.53 Cr. Capex ₹7.59 Cr. Into financial investments ₹89.24 Cr. Non-current investments rose by exactly ₹89.24 Cr over the half, matching the deployment to the rupee, so none of that increase is revaluation. The book grows because cash goes in, not because it marks up.
On the quarter itself. Strip excise, VAT and TCS and net revenue was ₹213.52 Cr against ₹180.52 Cr, up 18.28%. PBT grew 12.61%. The gap is one line.
Other expenditure went from ₹8.14 Cr to ₹13.27 Cr. That alone cost 171 bps of PBT margin. Everything else combined gave back 47 bps. Net effect, PBT margin on net revenue fell from 25.83% to 24.59%.
The filing doesn't break that line down, so what sits inside it stays unknown. It also isn't new. Other expenditure averaged ₹12.12 Cr a quarter through H2 FY26 and was ₹13.11 Cr in Q1. Sequentially it's up 1.2%. The 63% YoY number is mostly a low base.
The operating business itself is excellent. ₹93.25 Cr of H1 PBT on roughly ₹127 Cr of hard operating assets. Zero debt, stated nil in the filing. Raw material held at 69% of net revenue and the excise share of gross sales moved only 34 bps YoY, so the June 2025 Maharashtra duty revision got passed through cleanly. A business converting ₹95.53 Cr of cash on ₹7.59 Cr of capex doesn't need capital. Cash stacking up can be what quality looks like when there's nothing worth buying.
Worth watching: the ₹216.72 Cr parked in investment property moved ₹2.25 Cr in six months. Buildfort Infradev, the wholly owned subsidiary, still has no operations. Consolidated PBT is ₹102.94 Cr against standalone ₹102.94 Cr. Next print is the December quarter, due early January.
