Hey! 🇭🇳💙 Thanks for the Q! I guess I was shocked by the amount of work it takes to make a GN 😆 For years I’ve been making short comics/zines, but making a 256 book was a whole new experience! But also rewarding bc my team was great!😊 #GraphixTakeover

@GraphixBooks @katfcomix What were some of the surprising things of developing this story! Also shoutout to another catracha 🖤🇭🇳
(Pt. 2) I think it’s also emotional based too. There are some scenes in MISS QUINCES that requires me to imagine what the character would say or do in the situation, and my sketchbook is the first thing I grab in order to record it #GraphixTakeover https://t.co/r9LmONnRzU
Hi! Great Q! So it depends on the scene~ Sometimes during the process of writing scripts, after I type the scene, I then draw it for reference. But often, I would randomly picture the scene first, sketch it and THEN type it out (pt. 1) #GraphixTakeover https://t.co/r9LmONnRzU
Thanks for the Q! Sue has changed A LOT since the original art. When I was pitching MISS QUINCES to publishers, Sue looked a bit too old for a middle grade story. She was also more of a nervous wreck and less confident than she is now😅 #GraphixTakeover

@GraphixBooks @katfcomix How did Sue’s character (written and drawn) change, if at all, when you were creating MISS QUINCES?
Another great Q! So Sue and her sisters are based on… me and my sisters! Like Sue I’m the middle child so I wanted to show an authentic side of having sisters whether it’s the annoying parts or the nurturing moments between siblings 👯♀️ #GraphixTakeover

Thanks for the Q! So MQ was originally going to be an autobio story but I liked the idea of a surprise quinces so much that I changed it!! But most of the story is based on the summer vacation when I celebrated my quinces in Honduras #GraphixTakeover

@GraphixBooks @katfcomix How did you come up with the story for Miss Quinces? Was any of it inspired by your life?
Hola! I’m Kat (@katfcomix) and I’ll be taking over the Graphix channel for the next hour! Stay tuned as I tell you about my new book, MISS QUINCES (and the Spanish edition SRTA. QUINCES), take you through my process, and answer your questions! 👑 #GraphixTakeover 👑
That's our time for now, but if you have any more questions you can follow me over at @rosiesrambles! To learn more about INTO THE HEARTLANDS, please visit: https://t.co/peeJ6oUatt
Bye for now! And remember, we're stronger together than we are apart.👋🏿🥳 #GraphixTakeover
I love how much of the art tells the story. Coming from prose, I had to shift to a more visual way of thinking. It took some practice, but the end result was something amazing that only the comics medium can capture. 🎨:@mobydika

@GraphixBooks @rosiesrambles Hiya Roseanne 👉🏾 First, a 🌎 of 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 on your 📚 journey 🗺❗️My❓is what did you like most about ✍🏾 in the graphic novel format❓Did you change how you approached the story at all❓🙏🏾
Be vocal about your work! Don't be afraid to talk about what you're working on and your favorite media. I've gotten multiple opportunities because people knew how much of a fan I was of the property and saw I had the experience to match.

I'm an author, so the brace is for writing, not drawing! And the GN takes place in a different continuity than the movies, and entirely in Wakanda. Though there are a few easter eggs for fans of the film! 😉

The Rise of the Black Panther series by Ta-Nehisi Coates, Evan Narcisse, Paul Renaud, and Javier Pina was a big part of my research! As was the first SHURI prose novel by @getnicced. This was my first deep dive into BP outside of the MCU, so I researched a lot!
#GraphixTakeover
My favorite part was a scene where Shuri and T'Challa face their deepest desires in the Heartlands. @NatachaBustos captured so beautifully the heartbreak of realizing you didn't know your sibling as well as you thought 😥 (1/2)

I was surprised by how much leeway I was given! These are characters that have meant so much to readers all around the world for decades. But from the beginning, the artists and I were given free reign to push the story above and beyond. #GraphixTakeover

@GraphixBooks @rosiesrambles @Marvel So excited for this!! What if anything surprised you about diving into Shuri’s story and/or the process of creating this graphic novel?
Though this is my first comic ever, this isn't my first book! I've published a YA Fantasy duology, the first of which, A SONG OF WRAITHS AND RUIN, was an instant New York Times bestseller!
This was me when @Marvel asked if I wanted to write for them
#GraphixTakeover
But even though Shuri and T'Challa fight like cats and dogs (like panthers and panthers? 🤔) when push comes to shove, they've got each other no matter what.
You can read a sneak peek of the book at the link below!

From the beginning, I knew I wanted to tell a story that centered on Shuri and T'Challa's sibling dynamic. Shuri is 12 and T'Challa around 17 in this book, so neither are quite the cool rulers we know they'll one day be. Even royal siblings bicker! #GraphixTakeover
🎨:@mobydika
INTO THE HEARTLANDS is an original graphic novel following T'Challa and Shuri as they go on a quest to save Wakanda from a curse. However, the journey uncovers some secrets that may change Wakanda forever...
Artists: @mobydika, @NatachaBustos, and @claudiaguirre #GraphixTakeover
Hi! 👋🏿I'm author Roseanne A. Brown (@rosiesrambles) and I'm taking over the Graphix account for the next hour to celebrate the upcoming release of my book INTO THE HEARTLANDS! So excited to answer your question, and welcome you all to Wakanda! 😄✨ #GraphixTakeover
