@butwait I’m on the South coast of the UK, and the data comes from an API at https://t.co/mxXRKFu63y which is part of the National Grid #GreenLightSignal thing https://t.co/QdzWomFgcz I rendered it on a handy RGB LED strip :)

This is now working - the charger turns off when the carbon intensity of generation in the South of England is “very high”, and back on when it falls below moderate, or if the battery gets low. Based on the #GreenLightSignal API data.

.@brackendawson had the great idea of monitoring the #GreenLightSignal MQTT feed and automatically turning off the Mac charger to run on batteries when carbon intensity of power generation is bad (e.g. early evening). Niiiice! I shall implement this forthwith!

Fantastic to see @NationalGridESO data powering a live #carbonintensity display in @10DowningStreet as part of @nationalgriduk's #GreenLightSignal. GB's ⚡️⚡️⚡️ system has decarbonised by over 65% since 2013 and it's our ambition to be able to operate it with #zerocarbon by 2025.

We saw a 960MW pick-up in ⚡️⚡️ demand at half-time during #ENGUKR's quarter final – a little lower than forecast but still a big spike for our control room to manage. A more gradual 430MW full-time pick-up was likely due to audiences drifting away as the result became clear (1/2)
