Clean energy is no longer just about climate - it’s about economics, security and industrial strategy. @MLiebreich's “Great Clean Energy Acceleration 2.0” piece for @BloombergNEF explains why the transition is now unstoppable, despite the noise.

reated by Boris Johnson’s Conservative government in December 2021.
The specific policy framework, known as Approved Document O, was drawn up under Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick and officially announced by his successor, Michael Gove. Came into effect in June 2022.
@AntiEVidiots *Driving/Charging*
We have had EV's since 2017 and used APIs to ensure only the cleanest and cheapest electricity goes into the cars.
*Waste*
We process all our waste water through a treatment plant (#WPLDiamond) so our only emission is clean water.
@AntiEVidiots *Heating*
Wet underfloor heating in every room and every amenity space with smart programmers (16 zones).
*Cooking*
The cooking is done on an electric AGA which follows the ToU tariff.
@AntiEVidiots *Garden Heats House & Hot Water*
2x 14kW Ground Source Heat Pumps #IVTheatpumps part of Bosch Thermotechnik GmbH
Heat pumps are managed to only run on the 10 hours of off peak electricity, we store heat through 2x 300 litre hot water tanks (1x UFH buffer, 1x DHW tank)
@AntiEVidiots We did this without harming any of the historic character, features or fabric and with full support of the conservation officer.
*Clean Electricity*
The house on electricity only - on a time of use (#ToU) Octopus Energy (e-10).
Which means we use the cheapest/cleanest power
@AntiEVidiots So what does it take to create an 'effectively carbon neutral' 600 year old home?
I bought a derelict house nearly 15 years ago and set about making it a home with as minimal environmental impact as I could.
The original #EPC was a Band G and we have taken that upto a EPC D.

All large transmission demand and supply connections both connected and in the queue are here…
@PaulT1302@KathrynPorter26@roaldcs@mayerandrew Being paid to turn up/down is just how the balancing market works. Happens to all forms of generation in the Uk maker
Irrespective of fuel type.
@KathrynPorter26@roaldcs@mayerandrew And in 2019 what became the Great Grid Upgrade was started to build to catch up.
The price spike of Ukraine war suddenly made costs far higher.
Constraint costs will fall once these are complete.
And further still still with ASTI 2.0 strategic recondutoring in 2030.
@KathrynPorter26@roaldcs@mayerandrew Nope. It’s failure of regulation.
The increase in constraint payments was to serve as a signal to invest in Tx. Flagged at the ENSG working groups.
Short term cost saving at the expense of long term whole system value.
Tx investments were deferred for future price controls.
@DaleVince 600yr old farmhouse went from £5500 per year on oil to £2500 on electricity via Ground Source Heat Pumps. Lived experience counts for a lot.
