I like the backs of ‘56 #Topps team cards just as much as the front. Love seeing the odd dimensions of the old ballparks. Here’s #GriffithStadium in DC - 421’ to dead center, 457’ to right center, shrinks to 328’ at RF line but a crazy 405’ down LF line! #GreenCathedrals

Found some @lost_ballparks yesterday in #WashingtonDC! Saw markers for both #GriffithStadium and 1886’s #CapitolPark aka #SwampdoodleGrounds. Griffith Stadium is commemorated inside @HowardUniv Hospital. The @Smithsonian’s @PostalMuseum stands on Swampdoodle. #baseball ⚾️ 🏟

Today’s #Senators shout-out: #GriffithStadium was 350’ down LF line - BRUTAL for RH hitters! But in ‘55 this 5x All⭐️ set club’s season mark for HRs w/ 25. Broke it w/ 29 in ‘56 then SHATTERED it w/ AL best 42 in ‘57! Added 39 more in ‘58. Washington avg’d 57 W’s those 4 yrs.😖

All my older relatives and my father that are all gone now were #Senators #GriffithStadium locals/fans and it's going to be wild if the #Nats close this out and there is a #WorldSeries in there hometown. #DC
