#GuDarPyin is where the #Burmese military committed a massacre in 2017. The #ICJ Rohingya #genocide case's provisional measures require evidence of this crime to be preserved. Further armed conflict in this village will destroy this evidence & retraumatize its people. 4/4

Information collected by the Mission suggests that the estimate of up to 10,000 deaths is conservative. Mass killings were perpetrated in #MinGyi (#TulaToli), #MaungNu #ChutPyin #GudarPyin, villages in #KoeTanKauk village tract. In some cases 100s of people died. #HRC Ref:36

Some construction contractors came to #GudarPyin #Buthidaung this afternoon. They instructed the #Rohingya villagers to find a suitable place outside of the village. Contractors said they will build the houses there. No one will be allowed to stay inside the village.

We are now using Burmese name for all villages in northern #Rakhine State. These Burmese name are just given. All villages have original #Rohingya name. #GudarPyin is locally known as Gu-dam-Fa-ra. I think we, Rohingyas should start using the villages name in Rohingya.
