During day two of the strategic coordination meetings with GIZ Headquarters in Eschborn, Germany, the Education and Skills Cluster, together with the Institutional Strengthening, Governance and Inclusion Cluster under the Human Capital and Institutional Development #HCID Directorate, engaged in discussions on strengthening collaboration in skills development, private sector development, entrepreneurship and employment creation across Africa.
The engagement provided an opportunity for the team to showcase key continental initiatives, including the Skills Initiative for Africa 2.0 #SIFA and the Africa Critical Skills Bank #ACSB, and their contribution to advancing demand-driven skills development, labour market intelligence and economic transformation.
A strong emphasis was placed on the role of the private sector in shaping Africa’s skills agenda and driving job creation. Discussions explored opportunities to strengthen partnerships with industry, development partners, chambers and associations while ensuring that skills development systems are aligned with labour market demand and emerging economic opportunities.
The meeting further highlighted the transformative potential of the #ACSB as a continental skills intelligence platform that can help governments, training institutions and industry identify skills gaps, anticipate future workforce needs and make evidence-based decisions on skills investments.
This partnership will support the implementation and scaling of the ACSB, strengthen the alignment between skills development and labour market demand, and contribute to creating more employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for Africa’s youth.
