The pursuit of #Hutu refugees by @rpfinkotanyi forces as far as #Équateur is, in my view, one of the reasons why #UNARist movement should be completely dismantled.
#Équateur gave a relatively warm welcome to
the #AFDL /#APR troops on their arrival. However, large-scale public massacres of #Rwandan refugees, summary execution of many civilians, and arbitrary arrests, torture
and other ill-treatment inflicted on the population swiftly worsened their relations with the locals.
Instead of advancing directly from #Gatuna to #Kigali, @RwandaMoD continued toward eastern and southern—#Butare, pushing #Hutu refugees into #Zaïre the forests. The first battalions engaged the #FAR in direct combat. Follow-up battalions or reserve units advance after the battle to secure the area, pursue retreating forces, search for survivors, capture prisoners, or eliminate remaining resistance, and more importantly eliminating #Igihumekacyose #Hutus #punguza #Amahe. This shows that their objective extended beyond defeating the former government forces and included hunting down refugees— to grab the #Hutu lands for their families which were essentially in #Uganda and #Burundi.

Symbols are more than pieces of cloth. They carry memories, shape identities, and reflect how people understand their history. The same symbol can inspire pride in some people and painful memories in others. In #Rwanda, the Inkotanyi uniform illustrates this reality. To supporters of #RPF, it represents the force that defeated the former government and ended the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. For #Hutus, refusing to wear #Inkotanyi attire is not necessarily an expression of hostility toward another ethnic group. Rather, they see it as a reflection of their own memories, their understanding of Rwanda's recent history, and their belief that justice should apply equally to every victim.
The official narrative presents the RPF as the force that liberated Rwanda and ended the genocide. While some Rwandans accept this interpretation, others argue that the RPF became the country's dominant political and military force and has remained in power ever since. Therefore, the uniform symbolizes the victory of a political movement rather than the liberation of the nation as a whole. As a result, wearing it signal agreement with a historical narrative they do not share.
Over the past three decades, former @rpfinkotanyi members, journalists, academics, and human rights researchers have published testimonies alleging that RPF forces committed serious crimes against Hutu civilians before, during, and after the genocide. Investigative reporting has published sworn witness statements collected by investigators associated with the former #ICTR. These witnesses alleged massacres, enforced disappearances, summary executions, and other abuses and continue to shape how many Hutu families remember the conflict.
The debate also extends beyond #Rwanda. In 2010, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights published the #UNMappingReport, documenting 617 alleged incidents of serious violations of international human rights and humanitarian law in the Democratic Republic of the Congo between 1993 and 2003. The report stated that several documented attacks against Hutu refugees and other Hutu civilians, if investigated and proven before a competent court, could be characterized as crimes of genocide. The report documented allegations including attacks on refugee camps, killings of Hutu refugees during military operations, massacres of civilians, forced displacement, and attacks that allegedly obstructed humanitarian assistance.
These findings have prompted continuing calls from some survivors, researchers, and human rights advocates for impartial investigations into all alleged crimes committed during the conflicts in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. For Hutus, these unresolved questions reinforce their belief that the symbolism of the Inkotanyi movement cannot be separated from broader discussions about accountability and equal recognition of all civilian victims.
Military uniforms are rarely neutral. Around the world, they represent liberation for some communities and suffering for others. For those who believe that members of the #RPF were responsible for crimes against their relatives, the Inkotanyi uniform is associated with painful memories rather than liberation, so refusing to wear it is an expression of personal memory and conscience.
While the genocide against the #Tutsi is commemorated, discussion of crimes against #Hutu civilians remains politically sensitive. One group of victims should not preclude impartial investigation of crimes committed by any party. Lasting reconciliation is achieved not by imposing a single historical narrative, but by encouraging open inquiry, equal recognition of all civilian victims, and accountability through impartial legal processes.

Rappel fondamental : il n’existe pas de « Banyamulenge » en tant que tribu zaïroise. Ce terme est une invention. Ces personnes sont des #Banyarwanda des Rwandais installés au Zaïre après 1959 (#Tutsis) et 1997 (#Hutus). Ce sont des communautés étrangères, comme les Sénégalais ou les Nigérians, pas une tribu parmi nos 450 tribus natives.
À partir de la fin du délai de juin 2026, voici ce qui va se passer dans la zone de #Minembwe :
1. Évacuation préalable par haut‑parleurs
L’armée zaïroise (@FARDC_officiel) déploiera des haut‑parleurs pour avertir toute la population civile de quitter immédiatement la zone de Minembwe. Les civils seront dirigés vers des zones contrôlées par les @FARDC_Info, où ils seront fouillés, identifiés et déplacés hors de la zone de guerre.
2. Fermeture du périmètre
Une fois l’évacuation terminée, la zone sera bouclée sur terre et dans les airs. Toute personne encore présente qu’elle soit en uniforme ou en civil sera considérée comme un combattant extrémiste rwandais (@M23_ARC, #FDLR ou tout élément armé soutenant l’invasion @afcongo).
3. Contre‑attaque totale et sans pitié
Nous lancerons la plus grande opération militaire simultanée sur terre et dans les airs. L’objectif est l’élimination systématique de tous les ennemis présents. Aucun prisonnier ne sera fait. Toute personne se trouvant dans le périmètre après l’ultimatum sera traitée comme un terroriste rwandais et neutralisée.
Message aux extrémistes rwandais (Banyarwanda) : Vous avez importé votre guerre génocidaire chez nous. Vous avez tué 20 millions de Zaïrians. Vous avez profité de notre hospitalité. Ce temps est révolu. Le #Zaïre reprend ses droits par la force, et vous serez balayés de notre territoire.
