Uh is IMRH design itself a collab or is it just the confusing way he's quoted here? "Indian Multi-Role Helicopter (IMRH) project is going on, and there are two things. One is IMRH aircraft design. But, before that, we recently signed a contract with Safran for a 50-50 joint design development collaboration. Safran will do a certain portion of the design, and I will also pitch in. We will subsequently integrate, but the manufacturing will be in India. Secondly, as you know, all platforms start with an engine. So at least we know about the basic engine now. We have started the design of the helicopter engine. So a lot of PDRs (preliminary design reviews) have been computed for the system." Can you share the timeline of rolling out the IMRH? "If I’m right, I think the engine is going to come somewhere in 2030, and the aircraft will be ready in 2031-32. Then the production starts. We are working towards that, and I feel we will be able to do the project much faster." https://t.co/gUz6ZLvKjJ

I remember the former chief (rotary) test pilot of HAL hoping to be flying the prototype of IMRH at Aero India 2021, and here in big 2026 the project is only getting approvals for ‘design development’ not even the full prototype stage Firmly 2040s for induction of this type now which will inevitably mean billions will be spent on ‘interim’ imported substitutes by all 3 services before then- the Indian navy is definitely soon to push for more MH-60s, the coast guard probably also

CCS will soon give an approval of 13,500 crore to IMRH (Indian Multi role helicopter) and DBMRH (Deck based Multi Role Helicopter) IMRH is intended for the IA/IAF and aim to replace the aging fleet of Mi 17. It has an MTOW of 12.5 tons and payload capacity of 4 tons and it will be able to carry 24 troops with the max range of 800 km. DBMRH is intented for thr IN. It wil have a MTOW of 12.5 tons with a payload capacity of 3.5 tons with range of 800km. DBMRH will be able to fold its blade to better accomodate itself on Aircraft Carriers and IN ships. DBMRH will also have multiple variants for Anti Submarine, Anti Surface and AWACS roles
