#HappyTreePlantingDay This is for beginners. Some tips to improve your job applications. We are progressing with application reviews and we have noted the following: 1. If you include links to your portfolio, make sure it is a link that works 2. Research the company you are applying to, if you choose to talk about the products, culture or the work the company does in the application email, make sure you get the facts right. 3. Always write a short email to accompany your attachments. Salute the person who will be reading your email. Don't drop attachments without saying a word. 4. Your email should be max one paragraph. Introduce who you are, why you are applying and why you think you qualify, then direct the recruiter to your attachments. 5. We didn't read any cover letters attached, we went straight to your CVs. There's no time to look at more than the resume. 6. Don't include any unnecessary work experience or education in your resume. They make your resume more than one page and you have less room to talk about your projects and relevant work experience. High school, primary, hobbies, languages you speak, awards you won in debate, athletics etc. don't belong in your tech CV. Keep it short and straight to the point. 7. Don't attach certificates from college or high school. They don't matter. Your portfolio and GitHub like are enough. 8. Keep coding and sending commits to your GitHub, don't let it sit idle for months. Build the discipline of coding everyday, no matter what. You build muscle that way.
