July 8 1974 - The @spurs owner #AngeloDrossos has offered $50K to the @trailblazers for an exhibition game in #SanAntonio, with a catch.
The #Blazers can only collect the money if they win the game.
Drossos made the offer after hearing that #Portland owner #HermanSarkowsky made a remark about the potential merger of six #ABA teams into the @NBA.
Sarkowsky is supposed have asked, "Why do we want San Antonio?" to join the older league. Sarkowsky heads the committee in charge of the potential merger.
In addition, #PearlBrewery, a sponsor of the #Spurs broadcasts, have offered an additional $10K to the pot. Pearl owner #LeeBirdsong noted that the population of "little" San Antonio is over 651K while Portland population is 380K.
The Blazers have not officially responded to the offer though Portland VP #HarryGlickman said the comments don't sound like something he (Sarkowsky) would say.

May 2, 1974 - The @trailblazers announce that #BillWalton has informed the team he will sign with the #Blazers and not the with the #ABA.
Blazers team President #HermanSarkowsky made the announcement in #Portland, while team Treasurer #LarryWeinberg made the announcement in Los Angeles, adding, "The final drafts of the contract are now being prepared and Bill will sign the contracts later this afternoon (May 2nd), or early tomorrow."
Walton's agent #SamGilbert confirmed that the ABA offered more money but that Walton was swayed by #JerryWest and #SidneyWicks to join the Blazers. Gilbert also added that, "All Bill asks other than expenses is $25 a week. He's not at the height of sartorial splendor. He wants only $25 a week to live on."
The announcement ends the various rumors in which the ABA had planned in order to entice Walton to sign with the league. One rumor had the #CarolinaCougars moving to either Los Angeles or San Diego, which ever Walton preferred, and loading the roster with former @UCLAMBB players. Cougar GM #CarlScheer, while not confirming the rumor, did say that the announcement "plugs up one alternative and now we can make definite plans."

December 8 1974 - The rumored retirement of @trailblazers rookie #BillWalton were stopped when the #Blazers owner #HermanSarkowsky issued a statement this morning.
The rumor stated a few days ago when Waltons' advisor #SamGilbert replied to a question about the center's status. Gilbert said Walton was unhappy and was considering quitting due to injuries and the style of play in the pros, compared to college at @UCLA.
In other @NBA news, former @Lakers great #JerryWest, who retired last season, is looking to possibly coach. West acknowledges he turned down a job offer from an ABA team before the 1974/75 season.

Oct 3 1974 - @trailblazers owner #HermanSarkowsky threats to move the team if the #MemorialColiseum isn't available for potential playoffs games has been retracted as the #ERCommission finally opened the weeks the #Blazers requested.
While the team has not made the playoffs in their first 4 seasons, #Portland is expecting a much better record with rookie #BillWalton.

March 15 1971 - The @NBA conducted their 6th annual Coin-Flip to determine the 1st pick in the coming 1971 #NBA Draft.
The @trailblazers owner #HermanSarkowsky told Commissioner #WalterKennedy "Heads" but the coin came up "Tails" giving the @cavs the 1st pick for the Draft on March 29.
The #ABA is conducting their Draft as the #OregonJournal went to print, so the paper was able to print the first 3 Rounds, but only in alphabetical order by club and not in order.
