This is why officers are so paranoid when pulling over a vehicle. This has what soft on crime causes.
Riverside County Sheriffโs Deputy Isaiah Cordero, a dedicated 32-year-old motorcycle officer, initiated what appeared to be a standard traffic stop in Jurupa Valley on a pickup truck operating without license plates.
While waiting for the driver to retrieve vehicle registration and identification, Deputy Cordero was ambushed without warning.
Despite immediate efforts by good Samaritans at the scene and emergency medical staff at a nearby hospital, Deputy Cordero did not make it.
โThis kicked off a massive multi-agency manhunt and they quickly located the suspect, 44-year-old William Shae McKay, in San Bernardino County.
A high-speed pursuit ensued across major Southern California corridors, including Interstate 15 and State Route 60, involving tactical armored BearCats and dozens of law enforcement units.
Spike strips disabled the truck's tires which slowed him down but did not stop the suspect as he continued to drive at speeds in excess of 50 MPH into heavy traffic. In the end a tactical vehicles forced a stop, the suspect engaged pursuing deputies in an exchange of g*nfire.
Deputies returned fire, and the suspect was pronounced dece@sed at the scene.
โThe real twist on this story came once McKayโs extensive criminal background came to light. With a violent record spanning more than two decades, McKay had previously been convicted of a mandatory 25-years-to-life third-strike offense in 2021.
A local soft on crime California judge significantly lowered his bail, allowing him to remain out of custody while awaiting formal sentencingโeven after a subsequent failure to appear in court.
โThis is why there really needs to be some kind of accountability on these judges that continue this soft on crime approach. Their number one focus should be preventing repeat violent offenders from returning to the streets, not aiding the criminals. Now in the end an officer lost his life in the due to negligence of this judge.
SP4 David Webster MacLurg โ A Flight Medic to the End
David Webster MacLurg was a flight medic.
His last patient was a badly burned Vietnamese child.
On the night of September 27, 1970, the 19-year-old Specialist Four from Kent, Washington, was aboard a UH-1H of the 237th Medical Detachment. Their mission was to evacuate the injured child and the childโs mother from Camp Evans to a hospital at Quang Tri.
The weather was terrible.
Flying low and using the helicopterโs searchlight to maintain visual contact with the ground, the crew began losing their flight instruments. The attitude indicators failed. As they attempted to climb above the weather, the gyros failed completely. During the attempted descent, the airspeed indicator failed as well.
The Huey came down hard.
MacLurg was killed. Three others aboard survived with injuries.
When the 237th launched another aircraft to search for them, another one of its Hueys crashed in that same brutal weather, killing four more men.
Five members of the 237th Medical Detachment were lost that night.
MacLurg had already earned the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism and extraordinary achievement in aerial flight. He was a flight-qualified medical NCO whose job routinely meant going into dangerous places because somebody down there needed help.
And on his final mission, the person who needed him wasn't an American soldier.
It was a badly burned Vietnamese child.

Desmond Doss carried no weapon.
75 wounded men were left on Hacksaw Ridge.
He went back again and again under fire, lowered them one by one down a 400-foot cliff, and refused to leave a single one behind.

Medal of Honor. Okinawa, 1945.
This is the Greatest Generation. This is what America produced when men still believed in God, duty, and never leaving a brother.

This week, the Special Operations Memorial Foundation unveiled a Medal of Honor plaque honoring Maj. James Capers Jr., celebrating a relentless leader and Force Recon legend. What made Major Capers iconic wasn't just his battlefield commission or tactical mastery; it was the bedrock philosophy that guided his command: people come first, always. Today, his plaque stands among the nation's greatest heroes as an enduring standard of courage, honor, and duty. He embodies the true heart of a warrior: fierce in the face of the enemy, selfless in the care of his troops, and unwavering in his service to our nation.
Semper Fi, Major Capers.

They all matter. ๐โค๏ธ
Never forget our police officers ๐ฎโโ๏ธ, firefighters ๐, and military men and women ๐บ๐ธ.
Thank them every day for risking their lives to help others and protect our freedom.
On September 11, 2001, FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller had just finished his shift. He was heading home to his wife and five kids, and to golf with his brothers.
Then a plane hit the North Tower.
He turned around, grabbed his gear, and ran nearly two miles through the closed Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel toward the towers. He never came home. He was 34.
His family turned that last run into the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which still helps the families of fallen first responders and injured veterans.
When the road stopped him, he kept going.
