Hi-Green Carbon FY25 Concall Highlights:
👉FY 2026 & Future Outlook :
▫️ No specific guidance for FY26; FY27 (Rough estimates: for a 100 TPD plant can generate approximately 70cr in annual revenue once fully utilized, based on recent performance)
▫️Target sustainable EBITDA margins: 20-25%;
expected to stabilize as plants reach full capacity, expenses are distributed over higher volumes, and synthesis gas (syngas) utilization (e.g., power generation) reduces costs
💠Margins are supported by state incentives (e.g., 80% subsidy in Maharashtra, 40% in MP)
▫️Intent to maintain a fixed gross profit or EBITDA per ton, though still in early stages, with efforts to improve margins via better customers, optimized oil properties
👉Current projects and pipeline:
▫️Current projects:
💠Capacity: Current operational capacity is 200 TPD across two plants (e.g., Tula and second plant)
💠Tula Plant: Operational since July of the prior year, with a total cost of ~48cr (including pre-op expenses) and ~10cr working capital. Pyrolysis runs at 80% capacity (200-240 days/year, excluding holidays/maintenance)
💠Second Plant: Operations started in March, contributing to FY25 revenue (out of 61cr total, with 13-14cr from the new plant)
💠Third Plant: Expected to come online by Nov/Dec'25, increasing capacity to 300 TPD. Cost similar to Tula (~48cr), with additional 1-2cr for syngas bottling
▫️Subsidiaries:
💠Recycling subsidiary (Kutch, Gujarat): Crumb rubber manufacturing, strategically located for raw material procurement
💠Central Recycling Private Limited (Madhya Pradesh): Hosts the third plant
💠Green Valley Recycling: Formed for a potential plant, but on hold due to delays in central government subsidies amid geopolitical changes
▫️Pipeline:
💠Expansion Plans: Targeting 10x pre-IPO capacity in 7-10 years, with a phase of adding one plant per year. Exploring 3-4 new locations (in India and abroad) for medium-term (3-5 years) growth, considering supply chain, market, and incentives
💠Existing Sites: Land at current locations (Maharashtra, MP) can accommodate additional capacity (e.g., a second plant in Maharashtra or MP if viable)
💠Gujarat: A potential site for future expansion, leveraging location in Mundra (a transport and import hub) for raw material access. Past restrictions on pyrolysis in Gujarat due to safety concerns are easing with advocacy for continuous pyrolysis technology
💠Customer Development: Over 50 customers (India and abroad), with ongoing efforts to expand in segments like masterbatch, plastics, and tires. Sales ramp-up takes 9-12 months due to customer approvals
👉 Others :
▫️ Pyrolysis Process:
💠Outputs: Fuel oil (sold as is, 40% of revenue), raw carbon (processed, 30% of revenue), and syngas (50% used in pyrolysis, remainder for thermal use, power generation, or bottling; 30% from sodium silicate)
💠Energy efficiency improved: External fuel eliminated, gas temperature reduced from 600°C to 100°C, and 50% syngas suffices for pyrolysis
▫️ Recovered Carbon Black (RCB):
💠Demand growing in India (masterbatch, plastics, solid tires, some two-wheeler tires) and abroad (value-driven in US, sustainability-driven in Europe).
💠Challenges: Quality standardization critical for tire makers; company claims expertise to adapt technology and control inventory for consistent quality
▫️Raw Material & EPR: Supply improving via EPR policies, organizing tire collection. Company avoids claiming EPR credits (sold at ~₹1-1.5/credit) to prevent double-claiming; benefits passed through the chain from collectors to end customers
▫️Financials: Debt: 50% debt, 50% equity for expansions. Borrowing cost ~8.75-9%; offset by subsidies
💠Inventory buildup in FY25 to prepare for third plant, impacting cash flow
▫️Margin pressure from rising raw material costs, falling virgin carbon prices (₹120 to ₹90), and currency/import tariffs. Mitigated by certification for sustainability and growing RCB demand
▫️Syngas Utilization: R&D for power generation (assembly ordered, excess power to grid pending approvals) and bottling (seeking permissions) to cut costs (e.g., 20 lakh/month power bill to zero) and explore new revenue

#HIGREEN CARBON RESULTS. H2, FY25 ANNUAL RESULTS. Rs.225 was at 54p/e. Now 51x. 👍
#HI-GREEN. After poor H1, top line has grown. But Margin has taken a hit in H2. The new unit does not seem to have fired up sales to the extent expected. With new unit, margin expansion was expected but has gone down. Not a nice picture. Management may have to give clarity on new unit operation and it's economics. (Capex is fully done and no ipo funds is left)
