Today, Seattle sent a clear message by keeping the Egypt vs. the Islamic Republic game a Pride Match: human rights belong to everyone. No to Censorship and discrimination!
The Islamic Republic didn’t just want Pride flags banned. For more than 40 years, it has tried to silence every voice that challenged its rule, imprison those fighting for a free Iran, and erase the names of those it tortured, executed, or killed so the world would forget them.
During today’s match, we’ll share the stories of those prisoners and victims, because no regime should have the power to erase a person’s name or silence their voice.

🚨 On the eve of the official #HowWePride match between the Islamic Republic and Egypt at #WorldCup2026, we want to remind the world that former Team Melli goalkeeper Rashid (Reza) Mazaheri sits behind bars.
Mazaheri represented Iran on football's biggest stage.
Today, he is imprisoned after publicly calling Ali Khamenei "only a dark and passing chapter" in Iran's history.
Following his post, his home was raided, he was arrested, and his wife warned the world after losing contact with him. She later revealed he was being held in harsh solitary confinement. The Islamic Republic has since announced charges against him, including "propaganda against national security."
This is bigger than one footballer.
The same regime asking the world to celebrate its participation in #WorldCup2026 is imprisoning one of its own former national team players for expressing his beliefs.
Football cannot claim to stand for pride, courage, and human dignity while remaining silent as Iranian athletes are jailed for speaking freely.

Tomorrow is about more than football. Let's also amplify the voices of Iranians who were massacred and silenced by force.
An hour before the Iran–Egypt match, let's share the victims' stories in any language using any/all of these hashtags. #IranMassacre #WorldCup2026 #HowWePride

Iranian football is completely politicized and closely tied to the IRGC. The same system that promotes itself through football punishes athletes for speaking freely. #HowWePride #WorldCup2026

TOMORROW!
We’ll be shouting virtually to honor our people murdered by the Islamic Regime, and to support the thousands of innocent people still in regime prisons, like soccer player #Rashid_Mazaheri
