@fochti Mastodon is not the only software/platform using the webstandard #ActivityPub (which powers the #Fediverse). There are the likes of #Pleroma, #MissKey, #Friendica, #Hubzilla, if one is confused with Mastodon.
There is also IG-like #Pixelfed, or YT-like #PeerTube. And plenty more

The important point is that all these platforms communicate with the protocol ActivityPub - that's the clue of the whole network.
