News: PM Abiy’s #Medemer gov’t senior leadership taking ‘military training’ at #Hurso center
In a statement outlining the rationale for the training, Abiy said the Medemer Government ‘s ambition to “build Ethiopia’s civilization” based on comprehensive prosperity required leaders who were physically developed, morally strong, intellectually prepared, and mature in wisdom.
“Military science, experience, and life are unrivaled in shaping human purpose and personality,” Abiy said, arguing that military institutions instill physical and moral discipline, work ethic, teamwork, and readiness to carry out assigned responsibilities.

The Hurso Contingent Training School has on 29 March graduated thousands of new graduates who were trained in military skills.
“These young soldiers are trained to uphold national honor and defend our country with dedication,” the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) quoted Colonel Addisu Terfasa, Commander of the training school, as saying. “Joining the military is not just a career - it is a commitment to safeguarding our nation’s dignity and ensuring peace.”
Colonel Addisu further noted that the graduates completed rigorous training, including drills, shooting, and physical fitness, developing critical skills to serve effectively.
“They are not just soldiers; they are professionals ready to contribute in various fields,” he added. “Their training has prepared them to integrate seamlessly into the armed forces and carry out their duties with excellence.”
The new graduates have been urged to apply their discipline and expertise to serve with responsibility and commitment, according a dispatch by the ENDF.
