@Lizziemcc73 @Crohnoid Yes, pain rises at home with ordinary beds and I have very steep stairs to get up and down. They may try to send me home with just Tylenol but they reveal with such attempts that they aren't properly imagining true pain levels following a laparotomy or any surgery. #IBDCHAT

@Crohnoid @BigCGilmour I went from being at work to emergency admission same day so I had to explain why I was off work. I finally got a diagnosis that day after being poorly for years. I think the more people learn about #IBD the better it is for us all #IBDCHAT

@Crohnoid Here in Canada, I wish there was more follow up. Once you're home, there's no contact until 8 weeks later. You can call if there's a problem, of course, but now they're even asking us to take our own staples out, which is difficult #IBDCHAT

@Crohnoid Having access to amazing #stoma nurses is imperative & makes the journey so much easier. They have a multitude of tips! Lots of inspirational people to follow on social media (wish it was there when I had one 24 yrs ago!) Clinical Pilates for a strong core ✔️🧘🏽 #IBDChat

@crohnsbabble I'd like there to be some counselling about the sudden change from leaving hospital with all the hustle & bustle AND nurses around to sitting on your sofa at home wondering what happens if you have a problem #IBDChat

A3: A chance to mount my soapbox. Post surgery I wish I had been told of the consequences of losing one's #terminalileum ie. #bileacidmalabsorption. The treatment should be started immediately post op (in my non-medical opinion) #IBDChat

@Crohnoid @TLBRAY92 It's interesting you say that, Nigel. I've heard something similar, that the advent of biologics has changed the pathway of surgery somewhat, but not infact lessened it. I wonder if surgery should be presented as a option sooner in discussions? #IBDchat

@TLBRAY92 @bottomlineibd It's a sobering thought that around 70% of all #crohns patients will undergo surgery at some point, even with the great advances in meds. The latest paper I've read says that the new drugs have reduced the need for emergency surgery but not the overall need #IBDChat
