Today's Black American (Freedmen) inventor or innovator is Raye Montague. While working for the U.S. Navy, Raye Montague revolutionized the way ships were built by creating the first complete, computer generated ship design in history. Then President Nixon gave Raye Montague a month to produce the design, she did it in just under 19 hours. She did not just design the ship, but she wrote the computer program that made it possible to show all the ship's interconnected parts. Prior to this, designing a Navy ship took at least two years.
